Reflection

This is a post reflecting on how we did as a group.

Positive aspects:
  • We spaced out the project through a calendar. We were willing to spend our weekends filming, and did not wait until the last minute. 👌
  • We all kept good communication through email. 👊
  • We did not argue.
  • Every one of our member roles was fitting, given everyone's strengths.
  • We kept the cost of all materials pretty low. Breakdown of cost:
    • MATERIALS COST
      • Scrapbook Paper- 2 packs ($15): Erin & Erika bought
      • Scrapbook Portfolio ($18): Meghan bought
      • Pictures [Home printing]
      • Movie Poster ($1.50): Erika bought
      • Conan bowtie on portfolio cover ($7): Meghan bought
      • Portfolio white collared shirt ($6): Meghan bought
    • Total $ spent (approximate) : $50 (The above materials add up to exactly $47.50 as of right now); Per person: ~$7 (Or $6.79)
Things we could have possibly done better/things we should have worked on:
  • We all had busy schedules and did our best, but we often changed dates and probably should've been more firm with some dates.
  • We could have split up the workload better. Some did a lot more work than others, which was not fair to them :(

Digital Portfolio Complete

Remember how I shared our digital portfolio with y'all awhile back? If you don't recall, it's okay; now you know! Digital portfolio is no longer a work-in-progress. We have finished uploading all deliverables, pictures, and character descriptions. Check it out at http://totsashrewinscarlet.weebly.com/!!!

The Last Few Days

Hi everyone!
It's been almost two months since I started this blog, and I'm sad to see it end! I really enjoyed this blogging experience since it's the first blog I've made. I certainly learned a lot (like how to change fonts and colors on a pre-made template). Thank you all for reading my posts :')

As of today: Meghan added bloopers to our video; the length of the video is 22 minutes. She spent more than 15 hours editing the video and adding subtitles (dedication right there!!) She also did our portfolio cover, which is a white collared shirt bought from Goodwill with a red bow tie to represent Conan. In the shirt pocket, there is a handkerchief with the title of our film on it. We have already given the flash drive with the film to Scout Chung, but Meghan plans to adjust a few more things before tomorrow.

4/29/16: Video and portfolio turned in to Scout Chung, completely finalized.
5/4/16: Scout Chung will be airing the film to our class.

Recap:
4/25/16, Monday & 4/26/16, Tuesday: After school we met in the library to cut and glue the titles, character descriptions, & other miscellaneous papers into the portfolio. We also chose fonts for the portfolio. The titles that were not character names were 1 general font (except scene sketches). The general font was sophisticated but not too fancy. Each character has their own unique font that matches them. For example, Katherine's font was a fancy cursive-y font. Meghan worked on the video using IMovie during this time (which lagged more and more as our video was given more and more elements).

4/26/16, Wednesday: We met in Mr. Chung's room to continue cutting and gluing the titles, character descriptions, & other miscellaneous papers into the portfolio. Essays were all printed and turned in.

A Sampling of the Finalized Poster

The highly awaited poster is finally here! Created by Erika Kim~
The physical poster was very high quality at very low cost (only costed $1.50 and printed by Kinkos).

4/23 Film Shots

To better our video, we refilmed some scenes and filmed a few more that somehow got lost in the filming process. Here are a few pictures/clips!

4/23 Recap

Lots of progress was made today! The video was edited and updated a bunch by Meghan; it is now approximately 20 minutes. Sally finished all her character and scene sketches and they look amazing! Photos and decorations were added to embellish our lovely portfolio~ It was a very good work day and we got a lot done- in fact, we had so much to do that we were at Meghan's house till 6:00 PM- an extra hour than planned previously. Attached are some portfolio pictures displaying our work.

Mr. Shenton's Teacher Cameo Experience 4/21

Hello! Today, we filmed Mr. Shenton's cameo after school. It was very quick and painless, and we had a visitor (cough, intruder :P just kidding), Ryan Hon, who wanted to watch our fantastic scene (He is proof to how good our video is- so eager to watch filming before it's even released, so please come out to watch our film when it actually is released!!)

One issue we had with filming this cameo was that we could not agree on a date and time; thus, we kept putting it off, which was why this cameo was filmed so late compared to the other cameos, but it's okay, we got it done eventually today.

Mr. Shenton's role as cameo is to give Conan (Jin) his watch and bowtie★
❆ Mr. Shenton's warning: don't dare post his cameo clip on YouTube, or our grades are doomed! Heh heh...

Movie Poster Update

Erika has completed a draft of the movie poster. We are planning to add a completely original, witty quote to sum up what Detective Conan, ToTS, and our film are about :)
Very nice, wouldn't you agree? Subtle and simple, but with a bold message!
We are modeling our poster after this Conan poster.

Extra, extra announcements! Read all about it~

Our project will officially premiere on Friday, April 29th, 2016. We have a title...Detective Conan in: A Shrew in Scarlet! Look forward to seeing it! Thank you to all supporters of this blog up till now. I hope you guys continue to support our film; we couldn't have done this film without all of our fans' support! :)

There will be another Checkpoint tomorrow, April 22nd (Friday). We will be bringing mostly final drafts of our essays for Scout Chung to inspect ðŸ”Ž

Movie Poster

Hello everyone! As the film project is wrapping up and coming to a near end, we are premiering our first movie poster soon! Created by Erika, we hope y'all will enjoy it~

After Checkpoint 1

Friday, April 15, 2016: Scout Chung designated class time as a working period. He did not get to check up on our film group, but we got some important discussions going on. In order to successfully complete the project, we have declared a final preparation session on April 23rd afternoon. We will be assembling our portfolio at Meghan's house from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

A few of our discussion points:

Asking our director, the lovely Erin, how are we doing on the project?
"I would say...around 70% at this moment."

Meghan, our hardworking producer, has edited about half of the film so far. Currently, without the last act, the film is approximately 8 minutes.

Erika, our efficient writer, has her deliverable essay complete.

Sally has finished her character drawings. She just needs to do the scene sketches.

Emily is planning on sending her soundtracks to Meghan to incorporate a few of her song selections into our production. I heard there may be some Whitney Houston music, for all Houston fans ;)

Digital portfolio is still up and running! Erika and Erin have been working hard to make it look nice, so be sure to check it out! It's still a work-in-progress but a work of art!
